Rashid Khan wins Lahore Qalandars last-ball thriller against Islamabad

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan brought out his A-game against Islamabad United Wednesday night to win Lahore Qalandars yet another PSL 2021 match in Dubai.

The Man of the Match award winner first bagged sublime figures of 9-1 with the ball, then scored three consecutive boundaries off Hussain Talat to help notch 16 runs in the final over. His three fours in a row got him to 15 off 5 balls.

Qalandars chased the 144-run target with five wickets remaining. The low-scoring thriller went down to the last ball.

Rashid chose to play the PSL in the UAE after putting his commitment with County Championship side Sussex. He felt he owed more game time in the league after departing for international duty in the middle of the Pakistan-leg of the league.

After winning the game, Khan said he believed in his ability to get the final runs against a new bowler.

On the other hand, Islamabad captain Shadab Khan was slated by cricket experts for handing the ball to Talat, who had not bowled any over in the match before the penultimate one.

Nonetheless, Shadab affirmed in the post-match interview that he believes in Talat’s bowling skills to deliver the goods.
