Bruno Fernandes’ double helps Portugal stroll past Israel 4-0

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal dominated Israel in the last international friendly before kicking off their Euro 2020 campaign, winning the contest 4-0.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice, once in the second half and second in the extra minutes of the second half as Portugal did not show Israel any mercy. He scored the opener courtesy of Cancelo’s set-up.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also on the scoresheet as he doubled Portugal’s lead in the 44th minute of the game with the help of a Fernandes through on goal. However, he was withdrawn with 20 minutes left.

Portugal are in red-hot form going into the Euro 2020. The defending champions have lost only two of their last 25 games in all competitions.

Portuguese fans will pin their hopes on the Cristiano-Fernandes duo in the star-studded competition. Both forwards have been in subliminal form with their respective clubs and the Portugal manager would hope that they carry on like this in the international arena as well.

Another big name emerging for Portugal is Cancelo, who bagged the Man of the Match award in the Israel showdown. After winning the Premier League with Manchester City, Cancelo seems to be just as important to Portugal at this summer’s Euros.
